Why you have a Stripe account

When you set up payments, Checkinea creates a Stripe account for you and connects it to your properties. Every deposit hold and every charge happens on your own Stripe account: the held or captured money is yours. Checkinea never touches it and never sits between you and the funds.

Setting up payments

On the payments settings page, you'll first be asked for a support phone number. Cardholders may see this number on their receipts and if they dispute a charge, so use one guests can actually reach you on.

Once that's saved, hit "Set up payments." Stripe's own onboarding form opens right there on the page, with no separate site and no redirect. Partway through, Stripe will ask you to verify your identity in a secure pop-up window. That's normal, and it's the only place you'll see a Stripe-branded screen.

The Payments section

Once you're set up, a "Payments" item appears in your menu, with three views:

  • Payments: every hold and charge, per booking, plus any refunds.
  • Payouts: where captured deposit money actually lands (your bank account), when a payout is due, your current balance, and where you update your bank account if it changes.
  • Disputes: every dispute you have open or resolved, in one list.

Disputes

If a guest contests a charge with their card issuer, it shows up right on that booking's deposit card, and that's where you respond with your evidence directly, with no separate tool to open. Checkinea also emails you when a dispute opens, and again before the evidence deadline. Both emails link straight to the booking.

Stripe still needs things sometimes

Stripe occasionally needs to re-verify something, like your identity or your bank account. When it does, you'll see a quiet notice inside Checkinea (it can show up anywhere in your account, and always on the payments settings page) telling you what's needed. Some of these steps open that same secure Stripe pop-up.

Checkinea is your cockpit

Checkinea stays your day-to-day cockpit for check-ins, deposits, and guest management. Stripe is just where your own money lives, and everything you need to do with it happens from Checkinea.
